On 22nd November Christie's in Paris are holding an "Exceptional Sale" which includes two pieces of fine furniture which belonged to Marie Antoinette:
Lot 13: A commode by Pierre Macret with Chinese-inspired red and gold laqueur panels (estimate €800,000-€1.2m).
Lot 10: A carved armchair, decorated in the Etruscan style, which formed part of the last order delivered by Georges Jacob for the queen’s bedchamber in Versailles (estimate €100,000-€200,000).
The sale also includes a preliminary sketch by David for the Oath of the Tennis Court, which was once in the collection of Vivant Denon. (Lot 22: Estimate €25,000-€50,000)

NOTE of 04/12: There were some spectacular prices fetched at this sale. The commode sold for €942,000, which was within the estimate, but the chair made €906,000 - way over what was expected.
