A new temporary exhibition opens at the Science Museum in Kensington to mark the 200th anniversary of the death of the great French watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet.
Abraham-Louis Breguet: the English Connection, will run for the year, from 13th September 2023 to 8th September 2024. On display are twenty-five important Breguet timepieces including an exceptionally rare gold four-minute tourbillon watch made for George III in 1808.
The exhibition is part of the Museum assembled by the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, which has recently relocated from the Guildhall to the Science Museum. Among other iconic pieces, the permanent display includes John Harrison's 1770 marine chronometer.
